The Spring Luncheon is right around the corner, and it is going to be an important opportunity to learn first-hand what our communities face once we get beyond the upcoming court decisions on marriage equality.

Our special guest speaker will be Sarah Warbelow, HRC’s Legal Director. Sarah will brief us on the many issues that still face the LGBT communities, like discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodation. And she will also talk about some of the backlash to marriage equality that is already starting, particularly in the form of “religious freedom” or legalized discrimination legislation around the country.

Sarah leads HRC’s team that focuses on federal, state, and municipal policy. She also coordinates HRC's advocacy efforts as amicus curiae ("friend of the court") in litigation affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. In her years at HRC, she has worked across the country with state and local legislators and LGBT advocacy organizations in pursuing their legislative priorities.  She has a national perspective that we are sure you will find informative and fascinating.
