DFW Federal Club is celebrating the rapid progress in marriage equality by featuring YOUR wedding stories
May 20, 2014 by Jaime Duggan & Chris Lindsey, 2014 Federal Club Co-Chairs
June is for weddings, and DFW Federal Club wants to celebrate by telling your stories of what marriage equality means to you and your families. So, here’s what we would like you to do:
E-mail us your names, and date and place where you were married. Include a few wedding pictures. And send us your wedding stories (200 words or less!). These stories can be about what marriage means to you and your family, touching or funny stories about your weddings, or special moments you cherish most -- whatever you would like to share about marriage equality. We will post your stories on our Web site and some selected stories will be featured at our June 28th Summer Luncheon.
E-mail your story and photos to: firstname.lastname@example.org
In the year since the U.S. Supreme Court decision on DOMA and Prop 8, marriage equality has been spreading across the country. As of today, 19 states plus Washington, DC recognize same-sex marriage. But changes in other state's laws are moving rapidly. Court cases across the country – including here in Texas – are awaiting decisions. Right now, the only state without some movement on marriage equality is North Dakota.
We still have a long way to go before we realize full marriage equality for all Americans. And HRC and the DFW Federal Club are dedicated to making it a reality. Let’s take time to celebrate our love, our marriages and our relationships. And, then, let’s keep fighting for full marriage equality!
