Kick-off a Summer for Equality
Join Us on June 28 for a spectacular Summer Luncheon
May 20, 2014 by Jaime Duggan & Chris Lindsey, 2014 Federal Club Co-Chairs
Memorial Day weekend is almost here! We hope you all have plans to kick off the first official weekend of summer in grand style!
At DFW Federal Club, we are excited about all the great things that will be happening this summer. And we are especially excited about the Summer Luncheon at the Tower Club on June 28. Our guest speakers will be Brad Clark, Director of HRC’s Project One America and Tippi McCullough, a teacher from Little Rock, AR who was fired for marrying her partner.
Project One America is a new program from HRC dedicated to bringing LGBT equality to the South with on-the-ground campaigns in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi. Brad Clark, a long-time LGBT advocate with a consistent record of success at statewide LGBT equality organizations in Iowa and Colorado, will be leading this effort and will talk about HRC’s plans for the South.
Tippi McCullough taught English at Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock. Last October, Tippy and her partner, Barb Mariani, were married in a civil ceremony in New Mexico. Forty-five minutes after the ceremony, Tippi received a phone call informing her that she had been fired from her teaching job. Tippi's story dramatically illustrates the real barriers to equality that we face every day.
With these great speakers, we want to open up the luncheon at a REDUCED rate for guests of Federal Club members. You will be able to invite two (2) guests for $35 per person. Unaccompanied guest seats remain $50 per person in advance and $55 at the door. We would like to see a sold-out Summer Luncheon and have as many people as possible hear the inspirational messages from Brad and Tippi.
Thanks for your support of DFW Federal Club! Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
