Our Spring Luncheon is Just Around the Corner

Spring is in the Air!

Our first 2018 luncheon will be held on Saturday, April 14th, at the Tower Club in downtown Dallas. The luncheon features HRC guest speaker, Geoff J Wetrosky, Campaign Director of HRC Rising and Criss Ruiz, HRC Field Director, who will speak on political activities in Texas. Additionally, we will cover the Equality Convention held in Washington, D.C. in March and our local HRC fiscal 2019 goals.

You can RSVP through Facebook or Eventbrite. Look for your invitation in the mail this week.

Easter in the Park and Pooch Parade

This Sunday is Easter in the Park. Bring a blanket and picnic basket and enjoy this fun, annual event with friends. If you plan to attend look for our HRC Federal Club members Pio Vigil & Peter Storer.

Pio Vigil and Peter Storer

You will find them on the main lawn by the parade starting line. Just look for the HRC flag and balloons. They will have bottled water and pooch and human treats too! Stop by and say hello.

Our April Mixer is on a THURSDAY!!!

As indicated in an earlier newsletter, we are trying something new around our mixers. Starting with our April mixer and for most of the Spring and Summer this year, we are moving our mixers to Thursdays. On Thursday, April 19, we are gathering at Ross & Hall Beer Garten+Kitchen near Bryan Place. This is not a permanent change to our normal schedule but more of a trial run to see how it goes. We would love your feedback regarding this change.

Runoffs May 22nd

We need another record turnout for the primary run-offs. There is still time to register if you have not done so already. Here are some critical dates:

Last Day to Register to Vote:     Monday, April 23, 2018
First Day of Early Voting:            Monday, May 14, 2018
Last Day to Apply by Mail:          Friday, May 11, 2018
Last Day of Early Voting:            Friday, May 18, 2018

We still have a lot of work to do to help those facing runoffs in May and elections in the Fall. Please make time to volunteer to canvass, block walk, and/or phone bank for these worthy candidates. Monetary donations of any amount are also vital to all three campaigns!

Meet DFW's Steering Committee Co-Chair, Mary Hart

This week we introduce you to Mary Hart.

Mary has been involved with HRC for the past 4 years in a variety of roles.  In 2014 she joined the Federal Club Governing Committee (GC) coordinating monthly mixers. In 2015 she was the GC Recruiting Co-chair.  After serving two years on the GC, Mary shifted her focus to the Steering Committee -- to broaden her impact to the larger membership group.  She worked as Membership Outreach co-chair and was an integral part of the team that re-imagined the HerHRC event and helped raise over $17K for HRCs PAC. She also worked with other volunteers to help triple HRC’s General membership during 8 pride events. She’s served on the Fairway to Equality Golf Committee for two years and is now in her first year as Steering Committee Co-Chair.  She is a second-year member on the National Board of Governors.

Mary is a Dallas architect and Partner at Corgan. She loves to travel and hike with her wife Linda, ride her bike, work in her garden and spend time with their spoiled pets, Ginger & Benny.
