Representing DFW at the Mile High Gala, the flagship event for HRC Colorado, were our very own Ingrid Retzer and Jaime Duggan. They made a heartfelt pitch to help that community enlist new Federal Club members and increase the support of existing members.  HRC is very discerning about who they send to these Galas. By tapping them to do “the ask”, HRC national is showing a great deal of confidence in Jaime and Ingrid.

They have made us all very proud! Their story is awesome. A Democratic attorney and a Republican cop join forces not only in what is a great love story, but also as a great team marching forward toward full Equality.

As you all know, there is so much work to be done. There is a record number of anti-LGBT bills in the Texas State Legislature this session as opponents to equality react to what appears to be an unstoppable wave of marriage legalization that will culminate this summer with the Supreme Courts decision.

We all wish we could sit back, relax and say we are done, but we aren’t even close.  In fact, most of us -- and everyone at HRC -- realize that this really marks the beginning!  Fifty years after Selma and 44 years after Stonewall, there is still so much to do in the struggle for equality.  We must pass an Employee Non-Discrimination Bill so you don’t find yourself getting married at noon and fired at 2:00. We need protections for housing and public accommodation. HRC is working on a comprehensive civil rights bill that MUST get passed.

What is our point? We need ALL of you - every single one of you to make sure we continue moving forward no matter the unforeseen obstacles ahead! And there will certainly be many!  Thank you for your continued support of the Human Rights Campaign by giving at the Federal Club Level.
