Today the St. Louis Rams signed Michael Sam, making him the first openly-gay player to be signed to an NFL team. Sam was signed along with ten other players that were selected by the Ram’s last month during the official NFL draft.
Sam tweeted, “Grateful, humbled, and motivated after officially signing with all my Rams rookie brothers. Let's do this!! #RamUp”
In February, Michael Sam made history as the first Division I college football to come out. Sam was defensive end for the University of Missouri and 2013 SEC Defensive Player of the Year. HRC congratulates Sam on another historic milestone.
