2010 Corporate Equality Index

The Corporate Equality Index is a tool to rate U.S. businesses on how they are treating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors. Businesses are using the index the way the Human Rights Campaign had intended: as a road map to equal treatment for LGBT workers and consumers in the U.S. The index has also had a profound impact on many workplaces and has spurred significant change among companies that initially had been slow to adopt more equitable policies.

2009 Healthcare Equality Index

The Healthcare Equality Index rates U.S. healthcare facilites on how they treat their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender patients and employees. Healthcare facilities are using the index as a guide to equal treatment for the LGBT community. The HEI focuses on five main policy areas: patient non-discrimination, hospital visitation, decision making, cultural competency training and employment policies and benefits.

The comprehensive state-by-state report provides a complete summary of all the state legislation introduced and passed in 2009 that affected lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their families. The report indicates that despite disappointments in 2009, it was a banner year for positive legislation affecting the LGBT community, with as many positive bills passed this past year as in 2007 and 2008 combined. The report also details expectations for 2010.

The State of the Workplace is an annual report, published by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Workplace Project. This report is a national source of information on laws and policies surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace. The HRC Workplace Project advises employees and employers on the value of workplace diversity. It collects, analyzes and disseminates information to assist employees and employers in implementing policies and procedures aimed at treating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender workers equally.
